Boho West Journal

If you like the embossing on chipboard instructions that I posted then you'll like this too, it's the same technique and the only difference is that before I embossed with Iridescent Ice I stamped on the star and colored the edges (all with Craft Ink). 

I just love the Boho West line that was introduced this year!  I made this journal at an incentive event that I held with several of my downline who earned a night of stamping and pizza with me!  I taught the basic technique and then we each made an on board art journal with our choice of designer paper and chipboard. 

I just love chipboard and this is my absolute favorite way to embellish it!  And, if you're wondering where the Sage Shadow wide grosgrain ribbon came from well, it's straight out of the District Ribbon originals! 

Faux Cracked Glass Tutorial

This is a new technique that I came up with for my presentation at convention and it's really easy to do!  It gives the look of cracked glass without having to use a freezer! 

Here is how you go about achieving this look:

1. Stamp desired image on a piece of cardstock
2. "Smoosh" versamark all over the cardstock.
3. Pour Glassy Glaze Enamel over the cardstock and heat.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 so you have two layers of Glassy Glaze. 
5. While the image is still hot, press a Weathered stamp that has been inked with dark ink (I used Close to Cocoa) into the Glassy Glaze.  Voila, it's as simple as that!

Watercoloring Wow!

I tried a little bit different spin on watercoloring last night!  I used three different colors on this bird from natural beauty.  First, I colored him in with Cool Caribbean.  I then added Temping Turquoise and Taken with Teal as shadow color.  By starting with the lightest color and working my way darker I was able to get a very nice shaded image!  I  used to do watercoloring techniques with just one ink or watercolor crayon color but what I've learned more recently is that it's actually easier to get shading when you use 2-4 different colors! 

This little tri-fold card was not my original design, I CASE'd it from Karen who demoed this card at the Canadian Stampin' Girls Convention that I attended recently.  It was just so cute and such a great color combination (love that mustard with the teals) that I had to make one for myself! 

I changed the inside from the original and have posted the inside below for you to see.  Enjoy!

A Great New Tin!!

Check out this cute tin made from the Accents & Elements tin with diecuts!  The tin is wrapped with a belly band and when the band is removed the tin opens to reveal an adorable photo album inside!  The word 'friends' is from the Stampin' Up!® stamp set Love Matters.  I love this doodle style stamping!

Beautiful Background Stamps

Here’s a great idea to help you with your stamp storage!  Instead of labeling the boxes for your background stamps, why not use the labels on the sides of the stamps themselves?  Then, you can line them up on your bookshelf like books so they’re more readily accessible and take up less storage space.  Plus, you can use the stampin’ store containers they are normally stored in for other uses, like storing cut cardstock, scraps, Stampin’ Around® ink cartridges, you name it!  By the way, I love this dotted background stamp!  It reminds me of the background on a bag of M&M's!  check it out the next time you're at the store! 

Scrapbooking Tip

Many of you know that I signed up to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator initially because I love to scrapbook and wanted to purchase my supplies at a discount!  Well, I've been spending some time working on my scrapbook pages this week and have been having a great time!  The way I approach scrapbooking is to start with the photos, come up with a theme and then pick your colors and stamps to bring out the most in the photos.  I find it much easier to start this way than to try to design a page first and then fit in the pages.  Use your color coach to help match colors with one another, it sure takes the guesswork out of scrapbooking and making cards!  Here's a page that I did of my family at Christmas last year.  Enjoy!
